Main Screen
When vMix is first started, the interface shown below is presented.

Operation is based on the video mixer concept, inputs are loaded and dynamically
switched from Preview to Output.
By default vMix provides a Basic Mode with only very basic controls
presented. Click Advanced to view more options.
A full screen output is automatically shown on a secondary display, if
available, otherwise it will be shown as a full screen background behind the
vMix main window.
The top of the window includes the following buttons:
Open Preset: Opens an existing preset file containing information about
inputs to add.
Save Preset: Save the currently active inputs to a preset file for
loading at a later date.
Advanced: Activate additional features and settings
Quick Play: Automatically fades the Preview input (orange) to the
Output window (green) and begins playing (if applicable).
Preview and Output
Preview Window (left): (orange) shows the currently selected input, this
view is used to queue up an input before presenting to the output.
Output Window (right): (green) shows the input currently being displayed,
by default both the full screen and the output window will show the same view.
Both the Preview Window and the Output Window include playback controls (a
play/pause button, restart button and a position scroll bar).
Additional controls such as Next/Previous (for slideshows) and DVD Controls are
displayed depending on the input type.
Inputs
Inputs can include Video Clips, DVDs, slideshows and capture devices. Additional
inputs are added by clicking the Add New Input button at the bottom of
the main window.
Input List (across the bottom): List of currently loaded inputs. By
default two blank inputs will be shown when no other inputs are available.

The following buttons are available for each input in basic mode:
Close: Close the selected input
Quick Play: Immediately present this input to the main output using a
quick fade.
Loop: Automatically restart this input when playback has finished.
Advanced Mode
Clicking the Advanced button at the top of the window will reveal the advanced interface as shown below:

The following additional buttons and sections are shown:
Last Preset: Loads the last preset automatically saved by vMix, presets
are automatically saved at regular intervals.
Settings: Provides configuration settings for vMix such as display
settings, resolution and video format. See the Settings section in this
documentation for a full overview.
Fullscreen: Toggle the fullscreen output on/off
Pause Rendering: Pauses the display of all outputs, the last frame will
be shown.
Pause Inputs: Pause all currently playing inputs.
Close Inputs: closes all inputs
Basic: switch back to basic mode.
Cut: Immediately switch from Preview to Output without any effects.
Fade: Fade from Preview to Output quickly
Fade x4, Fade x8: Fade at different speeds.
Zoom: Transition from Preview to Output with a 3D Zoom effect.
Fade Scroll Bar: Manually fade between Preview and Output
Advanced Inputs
Overlay: Overlay this input on top of the current Output.
i: Opens a settings window with additional options such as Colour
Correction, Aspect Ratios and Deinterlacing.
Audio: Enable or Disable audio for this input (if available)
Prev: Displays a full screen window of this input for closer inspection,
when finished click anywhere on the window to close it.
Advanced Audio
Mixer: Displays a mixer of all audio devices currently in use by vMix.
Here you can mix each input individually as well as adjust the volume levels of
Recording and DeckLink outputs.
Meters: Display real-time audio levesl of all audio devices currently in
use by vMix.
Advanced Recording
Setup: Setup recording options such as Filename, Codec, Frame Rate/Video
System and optionally setup an audio input to record alongside the video.
Start/Stop: Start or stop recording
i: Displays information on the currently active recording.
Advanced DeckLink
The DeckLink controls support displaying the output through a DeckLink or Intensity based device. This output may be delayed by several seconds and is recommended only for recording purposes. (Such as to a DVD Recorder or HDV Deck)
Configuration of Resolution and Frame Rate/Video System can be done from Settings
Start/Stop: Start or stop output to a DeckLink compatible output.
i: Displays information on the currently active DeckLink output
Advanced Overlay
Configure Overlay to operate either in Fullscreen mode or PIP (Picture In Picture) mode. PIP currently supports display in the bottom right hand corner of the Output.
Settings
The settings window provides access to all global settings used by vMix. Some settings will not become active until vMix is restarted.

Display
System: Output Frame Rate. PAL (25fps), FILM (24fps) and NTSC (29.97fps)
are supported.
Output Screen: Screen to output fullscreen video.
Output Size: Rendering Resolution. (Note this will be automatically
scaled to the output resolution and does not change the output display size)
The Output Size is also the resolution used when recording to file.
Output Aspect Ratio: Aspect Ratio of output screen. Normal will
automatically letterbox widescreen sources.
Output Position: By default the Fullscreen output takes up the entire
screen, custom co-ordinates can be setup here in the format of Top, Left, Width,
Height
Preview Size: Rendering Resolution for the previewing windows.
Performance
These settings can be used to fine tune performance of vMix on lower specced computers. Adjust these settings if you encounter dropped frames on output.

Preview Skip: Skip x amount of frames for every output frame. So if
preview skip is set to 1 and the output frame rate is 30fps, the preview frame
rate will become 15fps.
Synchronize Output with Refresh Rate: Direct3D may introduce tearing on the
output display. (seen as cut off lines in the middle of video) Ticking this box
will eliminate tearing at the cost of rendering performance.
Pause Preview after transition: Automatically pause the previous output after a new input has taken its place. This can be used to reduce the amount of video clips playing in the background.
Application Priority: It is recommended that no other applications are running during the use of vMix, however vMix can be set to a higher priority to prevent other running applications from consuming too many resources.
Direct3D Queue Wait: This option is for debugging purposes, should not be used.
Decoders
Manually select the default MPEG 2 Decoders to use when playing back MPEG files and DVDs

Colour Space
On some NVIDIA graphics cards, YUV is displayed using the 16-235 colour space on video card outputs. This will result in blacks and whites looking brighter or darker than normal. To avoid this, tick the box here and vMix will automatically convert 16-235 colour space inputs to 0-255.
DeckLink
Settings to use with the DeckLink output. (See the section titled "Advanced DeckLink" for more information)

Port: These will override the settings set in the DeckLink control panel. HDMI must be set as the output in the DeckLink control panel for the HDMI port to work here.
System: Frame Rate of output, either PAL, FILM or NTSC. This must match the Output Size (for example 720x576 will only work with Pal). The Device will return an error if the System and Output Size do not match.
Output Size: Resolution of the DeckLink output, this must be supported by the Port type selected above. For example 1080p will not work through the Composite/S-Video outputs. This resolution is scaled directly from the output resolution, for best quality and performance make sure the Output Size under the Display Tab matches the Output Size set here under the DeckLink tab.
Audio Device: Output of audio can be setup alongside the video output using the device selected here. To output audio and video through the same DeckLink device, make sure the Audio Device is on the same card as the Device selected above.
Audio Input Device: Recording device to use when outputing audio to the Audio Device above.
Audio Format: Audio Format. DeckLink documentation states that 48Khz 16Bit 2 Channel is the only supported format.
Audio
Select the Default Audio Device for all inputs here.
If supported by the sound card, the same audio device can be set under the
DeckLink tab to route all audio output to the DeckLink output.
Control
Enable support for using the Korg nanoPAD MIDI Controller. The top row of pads can be used to select an input. The first pad of the bottom row performs a Cut with the rest performing progressively slower fades.
