Recording Audio with Video

This section describes the two methods available when recording audio in vMix.

Method 1 - Use a Dedicated Sound Mixer (Recommended)

To record a performance using multiple video cameras the following setup is recommended.
(Note that this setup requires a Sound Card and a dedicated Sound Mixer)

Under this setup, an external dedicated sound mixer is responsible for all the audio of a performance (sources from Microphones etc)

An audio output from vMix to the Sound Mixer is setup so that any video clips loaded alongside the video camera inputs can be heard through the sound system.

An audio output from the Sound Mixer to vMix allows you to record a complete audio track alongside the video.

To setup a Recording, select the Sound Card as the Audio Device from the Recording Setup window.

Note: You may also need to go the the Audio Mixer in vMix and make sure that the correct sound card input (such as Line Input) is ticked under the Recording tab.

Method 2 - Use vMix to  Mix Audio

Two sound cards or audio input devices are required, one for the inputs and one for the recording.

Under this setup all audio inputs should be added to vMix as a separate input along side the camera inputs (From Add New Input and the Audio tab)

Then when setting up a Recording, select the Sound Card as the Audio Device from the Recording Setup window.

Note: You will need to go the the Audio Mixer in vMix and make sure that the Wave sound card input is ticked under the Recording tab.
